Fuel Injector Seals: DSM/EVO

RTM carries seals for just about every injector on the market. Any time the injectors are removed from the rail, at the very least, the upper o-ring seals should be replaced. In addition, the large thick rubber rings that seal the bottom of the injector to the injector port in the head should usually be replaced as well. These seals tend to get hard with age and lose their sealing ability. These compromised seals are one of the most common boost leak locations in a DSM/EVO.

Many injectors use a third sealing component which are located on a small step at the rail end of the injector just below where the sealing o-ring sits. We refer to them as "upper cushions". Their function is to provide a cushioned connection at the rail to allow some "give" at the lower seal of the injector (which makes for a more reliable seal), so even though they do not provide a seal directly, they play an indirect role in the lower seal's function.

NOTE: Some sizes of FIC HiZ injectors use additional seals not used with other sizes.  The seal kit we provide accommodates all sizes of FIC HiZ inectors.  For FIC HiZ injectors that do NOT require the additional seals, these extra seals can simply be discarded.

NOTE: Upper cushions are available in an OEM version and a less expensive aftermarket version.  The aftermarket version is included with all FIC seal kits, even though not all FIC injectors use the upper cushions.  Similarly, some but not all PTE injectors use the upper cushions.  All OEM injectors, and NO Injector Dynamics injectors use them.  Upper cushions are NOT included with PTE or OEM injectors, but are available as an optional extra.
