RTM Rear Subframe Bushing Kit: 1g DSM AWD

We are all sold out of the main subframe bushings, we have only moustache bar bushings available.

Now that the age of DSMs is getting up there, all sorts of parts that were never thought of as ever needing replacement, probably NEED replacement. Let's face it, the average life expectancy of a typical street car is, what, about 10 years or so, right? Things like suspension bushings take quite a beating and after 25-30 years start to show their age. Aftermarket bushings have been available for nearly all the suspension/subframe bushings on DSMs for years. The one notable exception was the rear subframe bushings. Some years ago, a company called Tuners Nation introduced these bushings to the market. We contacted them with the intention of carrying their product, but unfortunately, they went out of business before they could fulfill our order. So what were we to do? Well, since we couldn't buy these bushings anywhere, we decided to make our own. May we present: The RTM Rear Subframe Bushing Kit. Our original intention was to come up with bushings that were of similar design to the Tuners Nation units. However, during our R&D, we noticed a couple of areas in the Tuners Nation design that we felt could be improved. For starters, we felt the notion that the stock OEM inner metal sleeves had to be re-used was a bit of a problem. Anyone that has had to hack/burn out their old bushings and try to salvage the tired, old, rusty inner sleeves knows what we're talking about! Another thing we noticed was that the main subframe bushing outer bore metal sleeve has a slight taper at the upper end. The Tuners Nation bushings did NOT have a taper to match. We made our bushings with a taper to match the subframe bore outer metal sleeve.

A full description of the RTM bushings follows: These bushings, made of urethane, replace the stock rubber subframe bushings and eliminate any slop in the subframe. We should point out that unlike similar urethane bushings where the OEM inner metal sleeve must be salvaged and reused, the RTM kit includes BRAND NEW INNER STEEL SLEEVES! No more having to try to hack/burn out your tired, old rusty inner sleeves and re-use them. In addition, our main subframe bushings have a small taper at the upper end that matches the taper of the subframe bore (actually, it's not officially a "bore" but a large OD sleeve pressed in and welded to the subframe at the factory). Not only that, but our moustache bar bushings have a concave impression on the bottom side that matches the big steel OEM washer that retains the bushing as it's bolted to the floorpan. We know of no other subframe bushings for a 1g DSM on the market that have these features. We carry bushings for the main rear subframe and also for the rear differential support bar (oftentimes called a "moustache" bar). Two bushings are used in the main subframe and an additional two are used for the moustache bar. Urethane bushings graded at 90A on the durometer scale (which is a measure of hardness).

NOTE: It should be noted that the large OEM metal subframe bore sleeves (about 2.8" in diameter and installed at the factory) are considered an integral part of the subframe and MUST be present and in good shape in order for our bushings to be used as intended. If these sleeves are removed or are too severely damaged (from corrosion for example) there will be insufficient structure to retain our bushings and they will have an unacceptable amount of play.

NOTE: It should be noted that the OEM inner metal sleeves (about 1" in diameter and located in the centre of the bushing) CANNOT be used with these RTM bushings because their sizes don't match the inner bore of our bushings. Also, the inner sleeves we provide with our bushings CANNOT be used with other manufacturer's bushings, for the same reason (the sizes don't match).
