1/8 BSPT Male to 1/8 NPT Female Fitting

Don't try to force an NPT fitting into a BSPT thread!

Many Japanese (and other non-US) automakers use BSPT threads instead of NPT. They look VERY close, but they are not compatable!! (By the way, BSPT stands for British Standard Pipe Taper.  In some circles BSPT is sometimes informally referred to as "metric NPT" since the important physical aspects of the thread happen to match metric measurements).

If you have a non-US made car and you have fittings that appear to be NPT (especially 1/8 NPT), chances are that it's BSPT. For example, most non-USers use BSPT on their pressure sending units. There are doubtless many other examples, but we know for certain that DSMs use BSPT on the oil pressure sending unit and the threaded hole in the valve cover for the PCV. Bet you could never figure out why 1/8 NPT always seemed tight, right?

This fitting is 1/8 BSPT male on one end and 1/8 NPT female on the other. This allows you to thread the BSPT male end into a BSPT port and the other end accepts any 1/8 NPT male fitting. (1/8 NPT happens to be by far the most common size for most universal gauge sending units and the like).
