Need to replace the balljoints or bushings on the front suspension of your 2nd-gen DSM? Because of the design of the control arms, it's virtually impossible to replace the balljoints separately. A few (enterprising? foolish?) individuals have tried, but we've never heard of a single successful attempt. What about the bushings? Well, they are made of rubber, they do wear, they do develop slop. Imagine struggling to replace your balljoints only to discover that two months later, your bushings need replacing as well? Talk about grounds for self-inflicted injuries!

In our opinion, for the price of the COMPLETE control arms, anyone who attempts to McGyver theirs has got serious issues! Control arms are brand new GENUINE Mitsubishi and contain all brand new components (balljoints, boots, bushings, sleeves) and are complete and ready to install.

What about the steering knuckle? Well, it contains no balljoints or bushings but it does house the front wheel bearing/hub. We're not going to name names, but we've heard of a few individuals who've had their bearings seize and fuse their axles, hubs, knuckles, etc into one glorious mass. Try seperating the hub from the knuckle when that happens! We dare you. In our opinion, if you EVER plan to replace the front wheel bearings on your DSM, you'd never regret having a new steering knuckle laying around for the occasion. For the price of the entire kit (both lower control arms and the knuckle) it doesn't take a genius to recognize the value in replacing EVERYTHING with new.
